Acid Fume Scrubbers

A fume scrubber treats contaminated air or process exhaust by bringing the gas stream into contact with a scrubbing medium selected for the contaminant. The surrounding ventilation equipment must tolerate the chemistry and operating conditions. IPF Colasit provides corrosion-resistant plastic and FRP fans and blowers used in fume extraction, chemical processing, wastewater treatment, and laboratory fume hood systems.

Available equipment materials include polypropylene, PVC, spark-resistant PPs-EL, and FRP. Polypropylene is described by IPF as chemically inert across most of the pH range, while PVC and FRP address chemistries or temperatures outside polypropylene’s range. The appropriate choice depends on the gas chemistry, temperature, static requirements, installation arrangement, and spark-control needs.

The listed equipment covers a broad range of airflow requirements. FRP axial and centrifugal fans are listed at 6,000–50,000 CFM, while PVC and polypropylene blowers are listed at 50,000–125,000 CFM. Direct-drive and belt-drive plastic fans are listed up to 6,000 CFM. Final selection should be based on the scrubber and system duty.

Selected models include spark-resistant PPs-EL construction, graphite impregnation or static-dissipation options, and explosion-proof motor options. These features are product-specific and should be evaluated against the complete system design and applicable site requirements.
